✨🌲 Mosey with Madison: Forest Bathing at Black Rock Lake

Settle into the state park with Madison Traviss of House of Fig for a morning "bathing in the forest" inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, therapeutic relaxation guided by sensory invitations. Together, we will experience a mix of leisurely strolling, intentional observation, and intermittent reflection. Walk away with the ability to take this practice of presence into your daily life.

Consider bringing: weather appropriate clothes and shoes, water, snacks, something to sit on such as a yoga mat or blanket, and anything else to make our time outside more comfortable. Expressive elements of choice like journals or sketchbooks are also encouraged. Optional BYO picnic lunch to follow.

Sunset Forest Bathing with Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust at Satulah Mountain Preserve

When: September 16th, 5:30pm - 8:00pm

Where: Satulah Mountain, meet at Peggy Crosby Center, 348 South 5th St. Highlands, NC 28741

Join Highlands‑Cashiers Land Trust for  a deeply restorative Forest Bathingexperience on Satulah Mountain, guided by Madison Traviss, a certified forest therapy expert. This gentle, slow-paced walk invites you to unplug and immerse yourself in the forest using your senses.

Madison will offer mindful “invitations”—brief pauses to notice and connect—ending with a peaceful tea ceremony as dusk settles.

These practices are backed by science: forest bathing helps reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost immune function, and enhance mood and focus.

The walk covers a modest path with gentle elevation—no hiking experience required, just curiosity and a willingness to slow down. Please bring comfortable shoes, layers for the evening chill, and water. Join us for this sunset journey into stillness, senses, and forest connection—a soulful way to end the day atop Satulah Mountain.

Registration is required due to limited spots. Free & Open to all.
